Summary: SpendSpeak keeps your data on your device. We do not run servers for the app, do not require an account, and do not collect, sell or share personal data.
What the app processes
Expenses and settings you enter (amounts, categories, dates, notes, subscriptions): stored only in the app's local database on your device.
Voice: when you record an expense, audio is converted to text on your device (Android: on-device speech models; iOS: Apple's speech recognition, which may use Apple's servers under Apple's policy) and then discarded. Recordings are never saved by SpendSpeak.
Notifications: local reminders for subscription renewals, scheduled on your device.
Network use
First use on Android downloads speech models (from huggingface.co and alphacephei.com) — no personal data is sent.
Optional exchange rates (open.er-api.com): a request for public rates; no personal data is sent.
Optional AI assist (off by default): if you enable it and enter your own Anthropic API key, the sentence you spoke is sent to Anthropic to interpret it. Disable it any time in Settings.
Permissions
Microphone and speech recognition (to record expenses), notifications (reminders), internet (downloads, rates, optional AI).
Your control
Export your data as CSV; delete everything in Settings → Delete all data; uninstalling removes all local data.
Children
SpendSpeak is not directed to children under 13 and collects no data from anyone.
